The Minnesota Veterinary Medical Foundation (MVMF) is proud to offer individual grants that support continued education and professional growth in veterinary medicine.

Current Grant Opportunities

Current grant opportunities include the Dr. Dick Reierson Travel Grant, which provides up to $3,650 to a recent veterinary school graduate (within their first three years of practice) pursuing advanced education in veterinary dentistry—preferably through attendance at the Veterinary Dental Forum. Funds may be used for travel, lodging, and course fees (excluding meals), and applicants must submit a short essay outlining their interest in dentistry.

MVMF also offers the Minnesota Veterinary Practice Managers Network CE Grant, awarding $500 to experienced veterinary practice managers (minimum two years in the role) seeking to advance their professional development. This grant may be applied toward CVPM certification, college coursework, or travel and registration costs for national conferences such as the VHMA. Applicants must submit a brief statement detailing their goals and the anticipated impact on their clinic or hospital.

These grants reflect MVMF’s commitment to supporting individuals who are advancing veterinary medicine across Minnesota.

Available Grants

DR. DICK REIERSON TRAVEL GRANT—$3,650

Awarded to a first, second, or third-year veterinary school graduate practitioner interested in veterinary dental learning opportunities. Preference will be given to applicants seeking to attend the Veterinary Dental Forum.

The grant application will include an itemized estimate of costs up to $3,650 that would be for transportation, lodging, and course costs, including laboratories (excludes meals). The applicant must also submit a short essay describing their interest in veterinary dentistry.

The person receiving the award will be asked to submit verification of attendance (preferably a CE form listing course/labs) to the MVMF within 30 days of completion of the course.

THE MINNESOTA VETERINARY PRACTICE MANAGERS NETWORK CE GRANT—$500

The Minnesota Veterinary Medical Foundation (MVMF) is excited to announce a new grant opportunity for Veterinary Practice Managers. This grant is designed to support the professional development of experienced practice managers who have demonstrated the ability to effect change within their veterinary clinic or hospital.

Eligible applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a practice manager. The $500 grant can be used in a variety of ways to advance their careers and benefit their practices, such as obtaining a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) certification, enrolling in college study courses, or covering travel and attendance costs for national conferences like the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association (VHMA).

Key details about the grant include:

  • Eligibility: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a practice manager in a veterinary clinic or hospital.
  • Grant Amount: $500.
  • Usages: CVPM certification, college study courses, travel and attendance at national conferences such as VHMA.
  • Application Deadline: July 31, 2025.
  • Application Requirements: A statement (200 words or less) on the compelling reason to complete required CE courses and how it will benefit their clinic or hospital.
